~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m excited to be able to be at Marcia’s blog today!! Marcia’s blog is a place known for it’s belief that women can be sexy and smart and strong, and still feel with their hearts. The perfect place for romance!!
I’m the author of a fun romantic book called That Boy. That Boy has been on the Amazon best sellers list since November, and I’m very proud of the fact that it’s also on their best rated list!
That Boy by Jillan Dodd
Here’s a quick blurb about the book.
You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits. There’s Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.
Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth. Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me. And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.
One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.
Since Marcia’s blog is about strong women, I thought I would share a little with you about the main character in the book, Jadyn. She’s a bit of a tomboy, spunky, funny, and a loyal friend. The book is written from her perspective, so you get to experience all the important moments in her life from age 10 through her engagement to that boy at age 22.
At eighteen, Jadyn is growing up well. She gets along well with her parents, gets good grades, and has close friends. Something tragic happens in her life that causes her to react. Her reaction is to realize that life is short. She is determined to do two things with her life. She wants to make her parents proud, and she wants to live life to the fullest. She wants to stop and smell the roses.
While these are honorable traits, she takes them a bit far, and they are simply masking her pain. If everything is for fun, it means you don’t care. If you don’t care, you won’t get hurt again. Even though she doesn’t realize it, she’s trying so hard to be strong, she doesn’t let herself feel.
But she’s in love with a boy. A boy who has been her best friend for a really long time. She knows she loves him, but she has an internal struggle brewing. Should she let herself love him fully and risk having her heart broken? Or worse, losing him? At the end of That Boy, she makes a decision. One that will affect the rest of her life. Will she make the right decision? Does she believe in true love, the fairytale kind? You’ll have to read the book to find out!! That Wedding by Jillian Dodd
The sequel to That Boy, That Wedding, was released about a month ago.  In this book, you get to see Jadyn grow into the kind of strong, loving woman that would make her parents proud.
I know he’s that boy. The boy I want to marry, my prince, my happily ever after. I feel like I’m living in a dreamy fairytale.
But then, Pastor starts asking questions I don’t know the answers to.
I have horrible wedding disaster dreams.
I can’t find a dress.
I have to manipulate him to get my way.
An old boyfriend asks me to run away and marry him.
My best friend tells me I’m going to ruin everything.
And forever is starting to sound like a really long time.
Which makes me start to wonder.
I wonder if best friends should get married.
I wonder if I’m settling.
I wonder if the fact that sex with him is so amazing that it’s clouding my judgment.
I wonder if it’s just cold feet.
I wonder if marriage is all that fun.
And then I have to decide. Am I willing to give up on true love forever, or should I say, What the hell, and marry him anyway?
Thanks so much for having me here today!!
14 Sexy Ways to Say “I Love You” and Friday’s Links
heart
Love is in the air!
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I know you want to do something special for your honey. Let’s get busy!
One night soon, before sleep, reminisce about all the sweet moments you’ve shared with HIM…romantic gestures, vacation spots, thoughtful favors, how you spoil each other…while you sleep, those thoughts may swirl through your subconscious, blossoming into the best ideas for celebrating LOVE day ever!
If that doesn’t work…Don’t feel pressured to come up with ideas – I’ve already done that for you. Tailor any or all of these to suit your hot guy.
1. Serve him breakfast in bed…only his favorite breakfast foods or something special that you wouldn’t ordinarily fuss with. Include a red paper heart with a love note suggesting what’s to come later.
2. Write sensual love notes to hide in his briefcase, wallet, pants pocket or his underwear drawer.
3. Leave post-its all over the house with erotic messages. (If you have small children, you might want to confine this to your bedroom and private bathroom. *wink*)
4. Compose a love poem or letter. Use your natural voice, not some phony exalted romantic tone. Your words must kindle desire and love within him and give him the feeling of being wooed and seduced.
5. Sing a song that means something to both of you, or one you’ve composed yourself, over his voice mail.
6. Get nostalgic. Gather a few items that will tell him how much your time together means to him. Try a CD of songs that commemorate a special time together, or a mix tape of love songs. How about souvenir of a place you two had a memorable time together, like post cards or a t-shirt; a movie poster from the first movie you saw together, or one that meant a lot to both of you?
7. Make a card for him listing 25 reasons you love him. Use your imagination to make it funny or longer.
8. Offer him a hand-made FREE PASS that he can use whenever he needs it: to get out an argument, avoid the ‘honey-do’ list, hang out with the guys, have a sexual interlude at an out-of-the-ordinary time, or make up your own FREE PASS ideas.love note
9. Write on red paper hearts, favors or treats he’d love like: a movie night, special dessert, a back rub, a shower together, a no-chore day. Make enough to cover several weeks or up to a year and keep them in a jar you decorated and filled with Hershey Kisses.
10. Plan a picnic for two and set it up in front of your fireplace, by the pool (weather permitting), or on your bed. Don’t forget the libations!
11. Give him an “It’s All About You” day. Pamper him with a back rub, a bubble bath, meals served in bed or in front of the TV. Answer his every whim. OR, take him out to shop for something special for himself and then to a special dinner but, don’t let him reach for his wallet. You cover it all.
12. Plan a sexy scavenger hunt. Leave notes, or small gifts with notes, directing him to the next one all around the house. They can simply be a trail or they can also demand he remove one article of clothing with note read. The ultimate destination can be the bedroom or the bath where you await his arrival suitably prepared for love.
An alternative to notes left for him would be to take a series of photos of yourself, each one missing another article of clothing until he reaches the destination where he finds you completely unclothed.
13. Treat him to a hand and foot massage. It’s sensual and something guys wouldn’t expect, but really love. Get him comfy in his favorite chair first. If he has dry skin, use a moisturizing lotion rather than scented one.
14. If you have a little more time, give him a full-body massage using sensual and warming oils. Have him lie, face down on the bed. When you’re done massaging his backside, flip him over and massage the front side. Allow 30-45 minutes for the massage alone. After the massage, he’ll be aroused…so allow whatever amount of time you usually need for…well, you know…love.
A few more thoughts…dress up for dinner at home, a sexual encounter in an unusual place (stealth sex), purchase a sexy thong for him, spend the day in your sexiest underthings-even while you do chores or cook.
Don’t forget to drop hints as to what would make you smile, too, during your love-fest.
Ready. Set. Plan!
Do have suggestions to share that I haven’t thought of? Does anything in this list give you that warm-all-over feeling?
Time for the mash-up of awesomeness!
Inspiration in Black & White
Sexy, Sweet Obsessions & Winners of Book Giveaway!
Smooth, rich, velvety, deeply dark…can you guess what it is? I crave it daily, maybe you do, too. I’m only a little bit of a snob about it. If it were possible, I’d live in a house made of it just to inhale its dusky, lusty scent. I’d have clothing made of it, because it would create an aura of impossible attraction and desire. It would be part of every meal and I would drink the liquor it comes from.
You’re right! It is CHOCOLATE.
You would be hard pressed to find many who don’t like the silky texture or its buttery sweetness. Yet, in its natural state, it is bitter. Its name is derived from the Aztec, xococatl, meaning bitter water. Chocolate was used in food and drink as early as 1100 BC.
It begins as a seed from the cacao tree. It is fermented, dried, cleaned, roasted, shelled, ground and liquefied. In processing the chocolate for eating, it is blended with sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa liquor and vanilla to create dark chocolate. Milk or milk powder is added for milk chocolate. It is then conched and tempered to create the satiny, smooth texture.
Enough history.
Now, come with me as we step into the Dark Side…Dark Chocolate Romance.
Chocolate has the power to captivate unlike any other food, and our taste for chocolate grows darker and more complex as time moves forward. Dark chocolates are meant to be savored for their deliciously bitter underlying citrus, caramel, or tobacco-like notes.
Close your eyes and bring to mind that bewitching, silken confection…
Try this rich and decadent, Chocolate Creme Brulee’ (Courtesy of chocolate creme bruleehttp://MyRecipes.com):
Ingredients
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 large egg yolks (at room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 ounces each semisweet and bittersweet chocolate (or 8 oz. of semisweet), chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Amaretto or other almond-flavored liqueur
  • 1 tablespoon Kahlúa or other coffee-flavored liqueur
  • Chocolate praline
Preparation
  • 1. Cut vanilla bean in half lengthwise; scrape seeds into a 2- to 3-quart pan. Add vanilla pod, cream, and milk. Stir occasionally over medium-high heat until mixture just begins to boil, 14 to 18 minutes.
  • 2. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar. Place chocolate in a small, microwave-safe glass bowl and heat in a microwave oven at half-power (50%) until soft, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Stir chocolate until smooth.
  • 3. Lift vanilla pod from cream mixture; rinse and dry for another use or discard. Whisk about 1/2 cup of the hot cream mixture into egg mixture, then whisk egg mixture into remaining cream mixture. Add hot melted chocolate (if it has cooled to room temperature, reheat briefly in microwave oven just until hot to touch; do not overheat). Pour mixture into a blender and whirl until no chocolate flecks remain. Pour through a fine strainer into a 1- to 2-quart glass measure. Stir in Amaretto and Kahlúa.
  • 4. Set six to eight soufflé cups, ramekins, or teacups (1/2 to 3/4 cup) in a 9- by 13-inch baking pan. Fill cups equally with chocolate mixture. Set pan in a 300° regular or convection oven and carefully pour about 1 inch of boiling water into pan around cups.
  • 5. Bake until centers of custards barely jiggle when pan is gently shaken, 30 to 35 minutes. With a slotted spatula, lift cups out. Chill until custards are cold, 1 to 1 1/4 hours (see notes).
  • 6. Garnish each crème brûlée with a large chunk of chocolate praline.
YUM!
Pairing wine with chocolate is a new sweet obsession among many.chocolate and wine pairing According to Sara Schneider, Sunset wine editor, we should keep these tips in mind:
  • The chocolate shouldn’t be sweeter than the wine.
  • The darker the chocolate, the more likely it will taste good with red wine (partly because chocolate with a higher percentage of cacao has less sugar).
  • The darker chocolates, with deep-roasted flavors, pair well with wines with dark, toasty notes themselves.
  • Port-style and sweet late-harvest reds tend to be the best matches for chocolate desserts.
For the most delicious chocolate dipped fruits to eat with a great wine, you have to Experience Bissinger’s. Oh, the dipped apricots and blackberries are heavenly! (Making a note to order more for myself.)
Make it easy on yourself and order chocolate bars that tell you which wine to pair it with…Brix Chocolate.
Here are a couple of ideas for pairing dessert with wine:
Give Chocolate-Chip Shortcakes with Berries and Dark Chocolate Sauce a try with Red Zinfandel.
The flavors of Warm Chocolate Souffle Cakes with Raspberry Sauce explode when paired with Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc.
Now all you need to complete the setting are several lit candles, your most feminine lingerie and your sexiest smile beckoning him to the Dark Side.  Slide in the sensual DVD, Chocolat, and settle in for a sinfully, delicious romantic evening. Here’s a teaser:
If you prefer just eating and serving excellent chocolates, try the other varieties of chocolates at Bissinger’s and indulge guests at a chocolate soiree. You could add chocolate covered strawberries,  a chocolate fondue with fruit and cookie dippers, or chocolate body paint, depending on your party theme–tame or spicy!
My final tip: Chocolate is just too good to be stuffed in your mouth without really tasting…savor every luscious nibble.
Big time benefit: Dark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants that wrestle with the trouble-making free radicals. It also is claimed, anecdotally, to be an aphrodisiac. It boosts healthy serotonin levels and lowers blood pressure. Need any more reasons to indulge?
Is chocolate one of your sweet obsessions? What’s your favorite?
You know I love hearing from you and anxiously await your comments!
